The Academy Awards are swiftly approaching (Sunday, Feb. 26th) and we have a whole new group of films competing for that coveted title "Best Motion Picture of the Year".  This season's nominees are:

The Artist
The Descendants
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The Help
Midnight in Paris
Hugo
Moneyball
The Tree of Life
War Horse

As the weeks pass I will be posting more in regards to the Oscars but for now I thought it would be cool to take a look back at the previous Best Picture winners starting with 2010 and moving back:

Resolutions

Happy New Year and hello!

A new year means new year's resolutions.  While many choose to resolve to quit smoking, eat healthier, exercise more or whatever else, I've chosen a different route.  I figure a resolution is basically just a goal you wish to achieve for the year, so I've made a couple goals for myself.

Resolution #1:  Read (at least) 60 books this year.  This sounds kind of steep and personally I don't know if I'll achieve this or not but I'm going to try.  I read a lot but not as much as I should.  I'm going to push myself to achieve this goal.

Resolution #2:  Watch 150 movies (I haven't seen before).  I don't know if I'm going to have a problem making this goal a reality as I've already watched 10 since the start of the year, but I'm going to do it.  This one may make the reading 60 books goal a little more challenging but whatever.

-Within this resolution I'd like to achieve another goal.  When I watch films from certain directors I like to seek out their other films and watch them all.  I have one more film to watch for Andrei Tarkovsky, and I am currently working my way through the works of Werner Herzog, I hope to finish both this year.

-I will watch Das Boot this year, just you wait and see!  All 5 hours of it.

Resolution # 3:  Complete a film of my own.  I don't care what it is, if it's good or if it sucks, I want to finish something.

-I aim to finish the film I'm making with my iPhone.

-I want to adapt my recently written short story and possibly film it.

Well, that about wraps up my resolutions.  It should be pretty fun to try an achieve them.  What are some of your resolutions?  Any film related?  Let me know!
